Why did you start Atelier Interiors?
At the heart of it all is the deeply personal connection we form with our clients. I love collaborating with them to craft spaces that truly reflect their lives, stories, and aspirations. I also wanted to build more than just beautiful spaces—I wanted to create a studio where designers could grow, learn, and thrive. I’m passionate about mentoring future talent and giving them opportunities to understand both the creative and business sides of design.
If you could describe Atelier Interiors in one word, what would it be?
Bespoke. We tailor our designs very specifically to the vision of our clients. We take pride in listening and responding to their unique desires and dreams.
What’s your favorite part of being a principal designer?
What I like best about being the principal designer is creating the overall design vision and the technical project plan to take us from point A to point B. It’s such a perfect marriage of creative left-brained thinking and analytical right-brained thought. I’m evenly yoked in these processes and enjoy using them both! The creative visioning requires synchronicity with the client to truly understand their desires and goals—then diving deep into the creative well to shape a clear direction for the project. Formulating the project plan, and even our studio strategic plans, creates the structure and logical path forward.
What’s a personal mantra you live by?
Life is never just about things; it’s about the unique experiences we have on this earth in human form. Our relationships, our sense of place, and our experiences all shape us and give profound meaning to our lives.
Is there a design element you always recommend splurging on?
Wallpaper! It absolutely transforms a space through texture, pattern, and color. Whether it’s neutral and soft or bold and colorful—I LOVE it!
What’s something about you that might surprise people?
I’m obsessed with history. I love learning about how people lived in the past, what was important to them, and how they navigated their world. Anytime we travel, I want to find the oldest thing I can to explore! I have dozens of photos of old churches, houses, and structures of every kind. My family is probably tired of it by now!
What inspires your design aesthetic?
Hands down, the stories our clients share about their lives are always my biggest inspiration. Hearing about what they value and the moments that matter most helps us craft a home that feels like it was made just for them. Beyond that—art, travel, and the natural beauty around me play a huge part in shaping my design perspective.
How do you unwind after a busy day?
Being in nature helps me immediately slow down and reconnect to my senses. We often do family walks and bike rides in the evenings—it’s a wonderful way to recharge and connect.
Share your vision for the future of Atelier Interiors?
To grow into a hub for design in Houston where creativity and business intersect, while delivering incredibly personalized, bespoke homes that reflect and respond to our clients’ daily lives. And, of course, to continue mentoring designers who will shape the future of our industry.
