THE EASTSHORE

Hard Surfaces 5 Months

This 2800 square foot, three story patio home was the perfect pied-a-terre for a youthful international couple transitioning into a new stage of their lives. With their family downsizing and a desire to travel, the space was perfectly primed to accommodate their daily needs. What was required? A fresh update to bring the home into this decade and reflect the warm contemporary style that makes them feel at home. Every surface in the house was touched! From the original wood floors to the finishes throughout the kitchen and four baths.

The kitchen truly is the hub of the home. We were challenged with making a small space feel open and gracious while still maintaining enough cabinetry for adequate storage. Hours were invested in working through the organizational details of the kitchen cabinets and adjacent dining room storage. The pay-off; a clean-lined, highly functional space that supports their daily movements. Natural elements, such as wood and quartzite, in soft neutral tones blend warmth and richness with clean lines. Open to the dining and living room, the kitchen is united with its adjacent spaces via shared materiality and color. A spectacular hand-crafted metallic wallcovering makes the main dining room wall a show piece and speaks to the fireplace, covered in the same material, across the way.

At the master suite we created a sense of luxury through the use of natural stone, onyx tile, acrylic, warm brass tomes, and wood paneling. The bathroom felt confined with a built-in tub. We opened the space by demolishing the interior layout and designing an open space plan with a freestanding tub. His and Hers closets were uniquely outfitted with custom cabinets to expertly manage the placement of every garment.

Our hard surfaces package included the selection and detailing of elements throughout the house including wood flooring, tile, counters, wall treatments, trim, cabinet hardware, plumbing fixtures, appliances, cabinetry, wallpaper, and lighting fixtures.
